The Etana represented inside The Void.

The Void is a representation of the digital landscape inside the Etana, the global data network controlled by REYAB. While much of the Etana was once freely accessible to the public, the information within it has been gradually divided into REYAB’s many Artifacts and censored.

The Etana is humanity’s unified archive of knowledge: a system created to preserve the totality of human history, culture, science, and experience. More than a database, it represents the collective memory of civilization and the means by which humanity sought to prevent the loss of knowledge across generations.

Today, it no longer exists as a single system. It survives only through Artifacts, physical data nodes scattered across the Old World, each containing fragmented portions of the original archive.

What is the Etana?

It was designed as a living archive, continuously updated and interconnected.
It housed all forms of human knowledge, from scientific research and engineering schematics to cultural records, art, language, and personal histories.

Its purpose was not only preservation, but context.

By linking data across disciplines and time periods, it allowed humanity to understand why decisions were made, not just what happened.

The Artifacts

As it expanded, its data was distributed into hardened physical repositories known as Artifacts.

These nodes were engineered to survive environmental collapse, conflict, and long-term abandonment.

Each Artifact contains a specific segment of the Etana, encrypted and isolated from the others. Individually, they offer incomplete insight.
When combined, they allow the reconstruction of humanity’s full intellectual legacy.

Artifacts are geographically dispersed, often located in remote or contaminated regions of Earth, making their recovery difficult and dangerous.

Why the Etana matters

The Etana contains both humanity’s greatest achievements and its most catastrophic mistakes.

Within its data are the tools to rebuild civilizations, reshape technology, preserve lost cultures, and redefine humanity’s future.

Because of this, access to it is inherently influential.

Knowledge drawn from the Artifacts can stabilize societies or destabilize them, depending on how it is interpreted and used.

Timeline of the Etana

Creation

The Etana is developed during humanity’s era of global connectivity as a unified archive designed to preserve all human knowledge beyond political, cultural, and generational boundaries.

Expansion

The archive grows rapidly, absorbing scientific research, historical records, cultural works, and environmental data, becoming the definitive record of civilization.

Distribution

To prevent total loss, it is divided into physical data nodes. These nodes, later known as Artifacts are encrypted and dispersed across the planet.

Fragmentation

As global infrastructure collapses, centralized access to the Etana is lost.
The system ceases to function as a unified network.

Present state

The Etana exists only in fragments.
Artifacts remain dormant and scattered, holding the incomplete but recoverable memory of humanity.

A fragmented legacy

The Etana does not dictate a single future. Instead, it offers the knowledge required to make informed choices. As long as Artifacts remain undiscovered, humanity’s understanding of its past and its potential future, remains incomplete.

The Etana endures as a fractured legacy, waiting to be reassembled.
