Humanity divided on a blighted Earth
Humanity’s claim to its own legacy has fractured. The planet that once unified civilization is now a battleground between two opposing visions for the future.
One faction believes humanity must remain grounded and restore its home world. The other believes survival lies beyond Earth, among the stars.
At the center of this conflict are the Artifacts, fragments of humanity’s original knowledge archive, and the war between REYAB Corporation and the Colonists over who controls them.
The collapse of Earth
Earth’s decline was not the result of a single catastrophe, but of prolonged over-industrialization, environmental collapse, and systemic exploitation of resources.
As ecosystems failed and global infrastructure weakened, nation-states proved unable to sustain their populations.
Widespread poverty, pollution, and displacement followed.
Entire regions of the planet became contaminated remnants of the Old World, unsuitable for modern habitation and abandoned by centralized governance.

The rise of REYAB Corporation
As governments failed, REYAB Corporation emerged as the dominant force on Earth.
Originally a global leader in automation, resource management, and technological systems, REYAB gradually became indispensable to human survival.
Over time, nation-states dissolved entirely.
In their place stood REYAB’s unified vision for humanity, one built on efficiency, centralized infrastructure, and total logistical control.
REYAB eliminated world hunger through its Recycled Nutrition program, distributing non-perishable, nourishing rations across the globe.
Housing, employment, and security were provided through corporate contracts.
The majority of Earth’s population now lives and works under REYAB authority.
REYAB as stewards of Earth
REYAB’s ideology is rooted in the belief that humanity’s survival is inseparable from Earth’s restoration.
To abandon the planet is, in their view, to abandon future generations.
Large portions of REYAB’s workforce are militarized. These forces secure population centers, centers of operation, Earth heritage sites, and critical data repositories.
REYAB positions itself as a stabilizing shield—protecting civilians from chaos, scarcity, and existential risk.
From REYAB’s perspective, space is a hostile void, accessible only for controlled resource extraction.
Civilian expansion beyond Earth is seen as reckless and unsustainable.
The Etana and the control of knowledge
At the core of REYAB’s power lies the Etana, humanity’s original compendium of knowledge.
Once freely accessible, the Etana contained the entirety of human history, culture, science, and research.
Fearing the destabilizing potential of unrestricted information, REYAB divided the Etana into a network of encrypted nodes known as Artifacts.
Each Artifact contains vast amounts of sensitive data, carefully monitored and censored before public release.
Knowledge deemed dangerous or disruptive remains concealed.
These restricted Artifacts are hidden in remote regions of the contaminated Old World, far from modern megacities and heavily guarded.
REYAB maintains that censorship is necessary to preserve societal order. Critics argue it is a mechanism of absolute control.

The birth of the Colonies
The Colonists originated as scientists and engineers from REYAB’s own Space Program.
Initially tasked with advancing orbital infrastructure and space research, they began to uncover the extent of REYAB’s control over human knowledge.
Disillusioned by censorship and corporate dominance, they seceded from Earth.
Using advanced engineering systems, they constructed self-sustaining habitats in orbit and established Luno, a former REYAB orbital module transformed into a military and logistical base on the Moon.
The Colonies continue to expand through automated self-building processes fueled by raw materials scavenged from Earth.
Life among the Colonists
Colonist society is defined by technological refinement and relative freedom. Their habitats are pristine, sanitized, and designed for long-term habitation beyond Earth.
Residents live under a shared standard of comfort, with access to advanced observational technology, spacefaring vessels, and unrestricted data networks.
From orbit, Earth appears as a decaying relic, its surface scarred by pollution and authoritarian control.
To the Colonists, Earth is no longer a viable cradle for humanity, but a cautionary monument to failure.
The war for resources and Artifacts
Colonists and REYAB forces regularly clash over Earth’s remaining resources and the Artifacts.
Colonist deployments to the surface are fast and aggressive.
Soldiers extract materials for habitat construction and scan Artifacts for encrypted data.
Retrieved resources are used to sustain the Colonies, while recovered information is decrypted and uploaded to a growing, uncensored version of the Etana.
REYAB, in turn, seeks to reclaim or secure these Artifacts, viewing Colonist operations as acts of terrorism that threaten humanity’s stability.
Freedom of thought versus control
The ideological divide between the factions centers on knowledge. The Colonists believe that all information should be freely accessible, allowing humanity to innovate, adapt, and evolve without restriction.
They see themselves as preservers of human culture and truth, documenting a world that few will ever walk again.
REYAB views unrestricted knowledge as a danger, capable of destabilizing societies, enabling misuse of technology and accelerating humanity’s extinction.
Both factions claim to act in humanity’s best interest. Both accuse the other of leading civilization toward ruin.
Why the Artifacts hold the key to humanity’s future
The Artifacts are more than data repositories; they represent control over humanity’s trajectory.
Each Artifact may contain forgotten technologies, classified research, historical truths, and the tools necessary either to restore Earth or to abandon it entirely.
Whoever controls the Artifacts controls the narrative of human history and the direction of its future.
The ongoing conflict in VAIL is not merely a war for territory, but a struggle over whether humanity remains bound to its home world or embraces an uncertain destiny among the stars.
Third faction: Amani
The information about the Amani lore wise is very scarce and is gathered from various sources like newsposts by AEXLAB, updates and other places.
See the Sources for more information.
Citadel update
Located on forgotten outlands, the Citadel is a trading outpost controlled by the Amani as a neutral territory.
Its location holds both spiritual and economic significance, having been built upon an ancient temple with historical importance. While the main area serves as a market and recreational space, the depths of The Citadel are used by the Amani for extracting precious resources to power their operations.
This allows the Amani to sustain their pivotal role in the balance of power, as they supply both factions with weapons, resources, data, and mercenaries.
Cliffside map update
Hidden deep within a network of caves and tunnels, the Cliffside Bazaar is a thriving black market hub that boasted a wide array of weapons and illegal tech and is operated by the neutral Amani Forum.
Normally mercs from all sides come here to upgrade their equipment, but a fight broke out between REYAB and Colonists, beginning in the lounge and then spreading throughout the entire bazaar.
Nobody knows who started it, but the Amani, wishing to remain neutral, evacuated the area; leaving the REYAB and Colonists to raid the abandoned wares.

Extraction
This is a speculation and not canon inside the lore as of 01/03/2026.
When players are playing the game mode Extraction, when successfully extracting from Reyn, the Amani take a tax cut from your profits.
